What do you know about your P1 audience? Who are they? What is their age? What is important to them? When do they listen to your station? Why do they listen? Knowing and understanding your P1 audience is a no brainer if you want to win. You make better decisions in day-to-day programming. Knowing what they want allows you to super serve them. Look at successful companies whether it's Starbucks, Nordstrom, Wal-Mart, McDonald's or Best Buy they know who their core customer is. Everything is designed around that customer.
Another great example is Ford. In December they saw an increase in car sales! Why? They made a huge effort to understand the consumer; not only what they wanted but why they were hesitant to buy an American made car in a crappy economy. In their marketing campaign they focused (no pun intended) on the things that were important to car buyers not things that were important to the car industry. The same consistent message was delivered from Ford Headquarters in Detroit right down to the sales staff at every dealership. Everyone was on the same page. The result speaks for itself. When everyone understands who the consumer is and what they want it makes it simplier to have a cohesive consistent plan that delivers results.
