Paul Jones and Eric Smith - the play-by-play team for Toronto Raptors games on The Fan 590 have started their own video blog while they are on road trips. It's a cool idea and a great way to build a community. Basketball fans although they may be few in the land of hockey get a chance to see the guys on the road - when in Miami they did a shot from the beach, in Denver they were standing outside in a snow storm. Even better is Smith and Jones give viewers of the blog some insight and inside information. As an example in their Salt Lake City post Smith talked about finding out about Sam Mitchell's firing by accident. He was on his way to do some Christmas shopping and saw Mitchell in the lobby with his bags packed. The conversation ensued and Smith found out that Mitchell had been relieved of his head coaching duties for the Raptors. What made it good was the way Smith told the story. Any way - check out the video blog and steal the idea if you like it! It can work well with one of your shows - tape a pre-show or post-show meeting and give the audience a behind the scenes look. And thanks to Nelson Millman, Station Manager at The Fan 590!.
